Platelet associated Molecular Targets for inflammation, vascular integrity, Thrombocytopenia and Disease severity in Dengue infection- (DBT funded project BT/PR8628/MED/29/756/2013)

Recent studies suggest that dengue virus (DV) may induce thrombocytopenia via
direct interactions with mega-karyocytes and platelets. However the precise mechanism
accounting for thrombocytopenia in DV infection remains unclear. In Collaboration with JIPMER, the study aims to identify CD molecules that might be associated with the platelet pathology in dengue cases and to study the association of lipids with thrombocytopenia and platelet function in severe and non-severe forms of dengue viral infected platelets
